It’s Not Over!

Since today is the last day that Dia de los Muertos is celebrated, I ended up finding fab stuff on Etsy that would go with the theme! Later on today I might go to Plazita Olvera and place a couple pictures of my loved ones on that altar. On to wedding stuffage…

Need a groomsmen gift? Who would say no to these bad boys?

From DNAcreations on Etsy. Seriously all their items look amazing!

You can use these for virtually anything from cupcake toppers to dessert table pieces!

Via 2gorditas…and I have to say I love their name!

And of course…

These were my wedding colors! If there was an outside space, this is the deco for it! Via Ay Mujer!

Oh and stamps to personalize paper from invites to programs!

Via Sugarskull7

All very reasonably priced, awesome Etsy sellers!

Real Wedding: Sara &Tyler

These pictures are truly breath-taking! Not just because I know Sara, but because…look!

She looked so hawt! I met Sara back when we were full on rivals. I would visit my best friend in ‘SC when there was nothing to do @ UCLA. And ummm no, nothing to do does not = ditchin’.

Sara and Tyler got married in May of last year in Northridge, California. They spruced up Tyler’s family’s backyard and made it look like a million bucks!

Here are the classy girls.

And classy boys!

Meet Tyler fully dressed. They met while they were both in the Teach for America program and bam! Sara got her dress at Jobyna’s in Glendale. Great taste Sara! I love the silver incorporated throughout the dress, especially the straps!

The gold hues in these pictures…*le sigh*

Sparklers anyone?

Perfect for an outdoor reception! Wait, who’s that I see in the black dress gettin’ down? It’s Britt from BowieBrideBritt! Check her blog out and stay tuned because she’s have a Q & A with Sara soon.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures taken by Peardon – Carillo Wedding Photography! Congrats Sara & Tyler!

My Photography Itch…and Some Major News!

I love photography. One of my truest passions since I can remember. What makes even more passion-ate? Weddings. Love. MY love.

Since I’ve decided this is what makes me the happiest, I quit my 9-5 today. It wasn’t really a 9-5 because I worked during the typical LAUSD school hours so it was nice to be out by 3 to take care of my business. I’ve been thinking about quitting for a while and today was the day I decided I wanted to take this task head-on, bull horns and all. I rolled over to my loving huz and I whispered, “Hey baby…I quit.”. He turned around half-asleep and asked if I was sure. Mmmm hm. He’s been supportive and has not made me question my decision. Thus, this picture I took this weekend at the Marina del Rey pier. ‘Til we grow old!

If all goes well, I’d love to open a consulting boutique next year. I love working from home but a space would seal the deal for me. Here’s to making your life your own!

Vendor Spotlight – My Wedding Concierge

Have you heard about iPhone apps taking over? I personally don’t own an iPhone but I do own a Pre and I love the variety of applications I can get. I can get games to cocktail recipe programs. Anything and everything you can think of which is awesome because nowadays a lot our social media interactions occur using our mobile “smartphones”.

Meet My Wedding Concierge:

“WedSync Inc, is proud to announce the launch of WedSync.com – a wedding website / iPhone App combo powered by smart search technology for connecting brides to wedding vendors. “My Wedding Concierge Vendor Guide” can be downloaded for free via iPhone or iPod Touch from the Apple App Store.”

I wish this application would have been available a year ago. Besides the possibilities of being obsessed with an application like this it could have definitely come in handy having this plethora of information right at my fingertips!

“A main benefit of My Wedding Concierge Vendor Guide is that it allows brides to save photographs into her favorites folder and bring it along with her to her vendor meetings. She can pull out her iPhone and immediately show the wedding vendor what kind of bouquet she wants. Gone are the days of unorganized folders full of magazine pictures and 3 ring binders,” says Phyllis Cheung, founder of WedSync.com and My Wedding Concierge Vendor Guide.

If you have an iPhone, this is how My Wedding Concierge would like:

Doesn’t it look great! It even has a notes section! Yeah, and did you read that it’s free? Pretty awesome if you ask me!

Letterpress Love

I would’ve called this one another vendor spotlight if it weren’t for the fact that I just had vendor spotlight yesterday. Let me just start off by saying that I truly wouldn’t have a vendor up on my blog if I couldn’t vouch for it!

Introducing Papeterie!

Taken from their site, here is what they are about.

We are a design studio made up of a team of talented artists, graphic designers and people who all share a love for paper, typography, and great design. Our vision is to offer you custom, unique, and innovative stationery with the ease and comfort of ordering online, therefore not paying for the high prices often found at stationery stores. Led by Creative Director Kimberly Chiu and inspired by textile patterns, Papeterie’s designers create all of the stationery pieces seen on the site.

I had the pleasure of going to Papeterie’s open house last night and meeting a lot of great people. I was invited by Kim, the owner and met the blood and sweat of letterpressing, her husband. They have this awesome, vintage, steampunk era looking letterpressing called the Heidelberg. Sounds monstruous doesn’t it? I should’ve taken pictures but I was in awe and actually letterpressed myself!

Here’s a look at an old Heidelberg.

Papeterie owns a newer version but it still looks as vintage as this one!

If you’re looking for some good letterpressed love, visit them online or visit them at their newly opened shop in Monterey Park, CA.

Wanna see what I made?

Sorry for the crappy picture, but isn’t it pretty? We got to take home what we made and am now skillfully thinking who I’ll write to with this!

Congrats again to Papeterie! Looking forward to seeing pictures from last night!

Happy Friday!

Loving:

  • her dress
  • her pink boots
  • this photographer!

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is almost here!

Traditional Veil or Birdcage?

If you want to go traditional, a veil’s the way to go. Ever since my huz got one knee, I knew I just had to have a birdcage. Once I found my dress, a birdcage was completely out of the question. It just wouldn’t look right. I still wanted nothing to do with a veil so instead I went with a simple flower with some feathers.

It worked out perfectly, I think! I love this shot. That’s Gabriel, my cutie-petootie nephew.

In case you’re still interested in birdcages (which I think I might buy one just for fun), Etsy has sooo many options!

What about a pretty soft and romantic blusher?

It’s all about what you want but remember that the your dress choice will also be a deciding factor on what to go with.

P.S. I went to the Rose Bowl flea market with the lovely Andrea yesterday morning and safe to say I blew LOTS of bucks on some cute stuff. I’ll try to take pictures and post later. If you’re DIYing and need something vintage, something cheap, or some odd finds, this flea market is the place to go! They’re open every second Sunday of the month. I can’t believe it took me this long to finally go!

What to Wear Under Your Wedding Dress!

So you have your wedding dress? What do you wear under?

Something sexy for your first night with the hubby or something that hides those imperfections under that skin tight dress? Something to perk up them twins or something to suck in your cute, little pooch? I did all of the above! As soon as I purchased my dress at Alfred Angelo, I started looking. I ended up purchasing this Smooth Seamless Long Line Bra at David’s Bridal.

It’s only available in-store and it was great. It did its job and with some cute undies, it can still look sexy!

Here are Amy Michelson’s shapewear secrets for under your gown thanks to her awesome emails! Get on her mailing list yo!

Rose Bowl Flea Market

On Sunday, Andrea and I went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. A first for me but Drea frequents it almost every month. I don’t think one visit is enough to see all of it because it’s huge and it has everything from clothing to vintage finds to the more modern. Although it is November, I got a bit of a shirt tan so one thing Drea recommends is to go anytime other than the summer because it gets hot!

So want to see what I got? Here ya go!

The cutest pillbox ever for those days I want to rip my head off.

Sorry this one’s blurry. It can be used as a necklace or a vintage brooch for a bouquet!

Same with this one. Your bouquet can look something like this:

Via Brenda’s Wedding Blog

This one’s actually pretty small. I’m thinking of saving it for my niece and purchasing a cute necklace to go with it.

These babies are all mine! They even have the vintage backing. Cute huh?

Again, blurry! Sorry, that Canon 7d is taking longer than I thought! Anywho, I’ve always wanted a chandelier in my house but I wasn’t exactly sure where I’d put it and it would have to be something small. This is perfect! It’s still not in the right spot…I need the huz to help with this.

And my last purchase was this:

A cute, yellow, vintage cake stand. I couldn’t say no to this! Anytime I have a get together at my place, my desserts will be sittin’ in style.

So ladies, this is definitely a place to go. There were so many vintage pieces of furniture I fell in love with. I know this is where I’m coming to when we open our boutique! Another piece of advise: Many vendors place ALL of their items 50% off at noon. Next date: December 13th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

Vintage Inspiration

Hey Everyone!

As I’m slowly coming off of my flea market high from Sunday, I decided to do a vintage styled inspiration board. I have a plethora of ideas for a vintage-themed wedding…so I’m just waiting for a bride that wants to run with this idea! These fab photos highlight the essentials for a great vintage wedding.

Here you go, inspire yourself…

I usually get uber-inspiration from the fabulously styled tablescapes, photoshoots & florals of JL Designs. I heart Carissa…she’s awesome! I’ll post the credits & links to where you can find these gorgeous goodies a little later!
