Unveiled – Bridal Style Revealed

Last Sunday, Wendy and I had the privilege of attending Unveiled Los Angeles, and uber-fabulous wedding event on Melrose Place. Guests were treated to a lavish assortment of food, drinks, desserts, and lots of free gifts & samples. We had sooo much fun, but the highlight of my day was definitely getting the chance to see and FEEL many of the drop-dead gorgeous gowns I blogged about last week. Yes! Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera boutiques were all closed to the public for this special event and we had the opportunity to sip champagne and look at all of the gowns!

Outside, Melrose was also closed off to traffic & pedestrians for this swanky event. Numerous vendors set up booths displaying and offering samples of their products.

This display by 24 Carrots was my favorite!
The culmination of this event, the pièce de résistance, was cake tasting from all of the best bakeries in town. Fantasy Frostings, My Sweet and Saucy Shop, and many, many others.

Here are some pics of the gorgeous Fantasy Frostings treats courtesy of the fabulous photographer Holly Steen of Cake and Kisses Photography.

…and this is what they looked like after we had our way with them!

It was a truly great event! Check out the Cakes and Kisses Blog for many more delicious photos from Unveiled.

Happy Friday!

Being in this industry has given me the opportunity to meet some great, talented people.  Here is another “Happy Friday” image post photographed by Stephanie Ann Photography.  This is actually an anniversary shoot for Alice Hu and her husband.  I’ve met Alice on several back when she hosted the Muzeo event.  Not only is she super nice and easy talk to, but she is also an amazing photographer herself.

For more images, this shoot was also featured on Style Me Pretty!  Go, go, go!

Wedding Updo

Nowadays most brides are going with more of a natural look on their wedding day.  Natural makeup and soft curls have definitely been the go-to options for my recent brides.  IF you’re thinking of doing something with your hair up, I would rock any of these any day.  Pros of having it up?  You’ll keep cool.  You’ll keep your hair out of the way AND these are still very pretty & soft!

Happy Friday!

We’ve been so busy this week with Last Minute Bride details and I finally got some pro headshots done for the new site!  I’ve been hustling to get awesome little goodie bags for the first 50 brides who come to LMB.  Almost a week away  ladies!

On another note my happy Friday picture if of the adorable Bowie Bride and her husband to-be!  We went to the Griffith Observatory and shot two different sets.  It was amazing!!!  I STILL have bug bites on my legs from that night!

Amazing yes?  Holly from Cakes and Kisses Photography took these to die for shots and April Lianez de Brimer styled it.  Go check out Britt’s blog for more hotness!

Happy weekend! =D

Where to Keep that Lip Gloss!

I know I’ve been talking a lot about Last Minute Bride but only because it’s going to be intimate, awesome, and hello!  FREE.  No vendors staring at you, no overwhelming number of booths, nope!  Just a couple handpicked vendors like Better than Naked!

Just wanted to give you a sneak peak at her goods!

How cute is this vintage beaded purse to store in your lip gloss, tissue, and some ______ !  Fill in the blank.

I know I teased ya!  Come see the rest of her stuff this Sunday!

More on Wedding Do’s!

Down-do's

Making “hair” inspiration boards keeping in mind our super fab event this Sunday!  Like I said last week in my “Updo” post most brides wear their hair down and understandably because you don’t want to look like those 80’s brides back in the day.  It’s also hard to get a good trial unless you already have a picture of what you want and let me rephrase, you NEED at least an inspiration picture when you go to your trial, after all, trials aren’t free.

How did you find your inspiration?

And the Bride wore…

Hot off the runway…Black Wedding Gowns for Spring 2011!!!

While looking through the images from Spring 2011 Bridal Week & trying to pick my faves for the blog, I spotted something that I had to write about asap. The Black Wedding Gown is a growing trend in bridal fashion that I will probably never be onboard with, but fashion is art…right? Over the last several years, designers have been playing with color in their bridal collections. While I love the growing availability of gowns in fresh colors or colored accents, I’m not a fan of the black gown. I’m sure that designers, for the most part, only put their black wedding gowns on the runway for a dramatic effect. Nevertheless, Spring 2011 had its fair share of dark gowns.

Oscar de la Renta

Vera Wang may have inspired many designers Spring 2011 collections & added momentum to this trend with her Fall 2010 collection last October, debuting a black gown – as seen below.
Vera Wang Spring 2011

I’m always a big fan of Vera Wang’s use of color in her bridal collections, but this charcoal color is a little too close to black for my taste.

Ramona Keveza Spring 2011

This is truly a beautiful gown, but for a bride? What do you think?

Carolina Herrera

Happy Friday!

I usually have a recent kick-ass wedding or e-session picture that has been featured for my Happy Friday, but I ran across this & it reminded me of my own wedding, except I was laying on sand and I looked more like Obama…asleep.

Looks like a good ending to me!

Last Minute Bride Teasers

Here’s an inspiration board I put together after looking at our venue for this event.  Many venues already have a “feel” because they have deco that is there to stay for your event so you might feel a bit restricted in terms of design and your ideal concept.  I would recommend that if you don’t hate the deco but absolutely LOVE the venue and location, make it work!  It wasn’t too hard to work with Valentino’s Salon and Spa in Glendale.

Our event has come and gone, but if you missed it we are definitely planning on hosting another one!

In LOVE with this vintage guestbook!

JD of Shall We Dance Entertainment was great!  Not only did he DJ and MC but he sang and he was awesome entertainment!

All photos by Stacey Steffe of Better Than Naked!  Will definitely share more photos once I get them!
