Archives for April 2010

Vera!

So by now you’ve all heard that Vera Wang has partnered up with David’s Bridal to launch a new bridal collection 2011 right?  There was A LOT of controversy on twitter about this.  Many said that they weren’t sure why Vera was taking this step because it would mean diluting her couture brand.  I say why not?  Vera obviously has a whole entourage of people advising her on pros and cons of taking this step.  The gowns will be under $1500 according to David’s Bridal blog and I think that this partnership will totally make lots of brides-to-be ecstatic.

What do you think?

And on another Vera note, you can preview the Vera Wang 2011 Spring Collection right here on Melrose during her trunk show April 29th – May 1st.

Happy Friday!

I had the pleasure of meeting Joseph and Jenny Llanes at the Utterly Engaged party earlier this year.  She contacted me to have some coffee so I could see their work and I was completely in love with their shots!

 Especially this one:

The light they captured on this one is beautiful!  The nice thing about this husband and wife photography team is that they are so versatile.  They can capture candids like the one above or make you pose against a wall and transform it into a high fashion shot.

Just recently they shot Rhianna too!

Hot huh?

They’re a pretty awesome team!  For more info and photos to drool over visit them HERE.

Bridal Week – Spring 2011

Last week, I was glued to my computer way more than usual. Why, you may ask? Only because it was New York Bridal Fashion Week! I’ve been searching the web and tweeted images of the goods straight from the runways of the Spring 2011 shows. Let me tell you, I’m in heaven! Many designers have outdone themselves yet again – a feat I thought couldn’t be accomplished after the shows last fall. There is NO way I can mention all of the gowns that I loved, so I’ll just highlight a few and then you all can go have a look for yourselves! Afterall, nothing makes a girl swoon more than a gorgeous gown!

Here are the goods:

As usual, Monique Lhuillier is at the top of my list of favs. I have always loved her incessantly feminine style, but this fashion forward mini dress is to-die-for!!!! Thanks to Tracy of RecycledBride for spotting it & including it in her “15 most beautiful, stylish, and downright jaw-dropping dresses” from the spring shows.

Carol Hannah Whitfield – Love, love, love this first one! These gowns are absolutely perfect for the more laid-back affair.

Priscilla of Boston – I love the lace accents on thes gowns – so delicate.

Christos – Beautiful tulle overlay could be seen on many Christos designs for Spring 2011. I love the classic, vintage ballroom gown look of this line.

Events – Wish Upon A Wedding

Last Thursday I went to the Wish Upon a Wedding OC/LA Launch Party and had an amazing teary-eyed time!  I introduced this organization here in this post and we are so happy to be part of the volunteer coordinator committee.

Here are some pictures courtesy of Brian Khang!

The fab Melinda of Cake Goodness knows how to bake up a storm let me tell ya!

They showed a video of the latest couple and it was pretty touching to hear what a group of people can do to couples in need.  It really is a dream come true for them.  It’s pretty heart wrenching to know that these are terminally ill patients as well.  Knowing this if anyone of you out there want to help, donate time or services please contact us so we can place you on our database!

Happy Friday!

Real life sometimes sucks, but sometimes it can be soooo goooood!  My huz and I our finally taking our honeymoon this coming week and if anyone wants to go to St. Maarten come on over and try to squeeze into my luggage!  It’s been long overdue and I just can’t wait!

On another note, these past couple weeks have been pretty busy and amazing.  Events, emails, my couples, and great friends make it all the worthwhile!  A very special thanks with squishy hugs and sloppy kisses to my lovely Andrea!  Note:  Drea:  we should find some pictures of Europe and show how our old school love flourished! =)  Drea’s going to be holding down the fort for me while I’m gone, so to all my brides (if ya’ll even read this!) and new inquiries: if I don’t get to answer right away, you know why but please CC to the amazing andrea at justwenderful{dot}com

I also can’t wait to share details of last Saturday’s wedding but I’m not sure when I’ll get to do that so here is a teaser!

Have a great day… & weekend!
